BOSS BOSS BOSS BOSS BOSS BOSS BOSS BOSS BOSS BOSS!
Finally time to fully implement the boss!
Slight redesign going on but he’s basically the same dude…

Lots of anims done for his different parts, can’t wait to see them come together in-game!

More menu mockups- excuse the placeholder pixely text…

The bottom one is what we finally decided on for the monster upgrade screen- replacing putting blocks into a bar with squirting liquid all over monsters seems like a lot more fun š
A very thoughtful spam bot has been trying really hard to post the following message to our forums, so i figure it must be pretty important to get this info out there:
The secrets of each one merchantās accomplishment will lie upon their particular thriving recognition of their unique offering task (or perhaps Unique selling position). A distinctive offering task can be a good motto of which states any kind of products which has a unique id rendering it various, in any other case much better, in comparison with its opposition. A good Unique selling position approach involves a very good consumer experience and stimulate individuals to invest in..
Words to live by.

Nothing suspicious here, just a totally legit face, almost entirely free of THAT MASSIVE LUMP ON THE SIDE THERE.
This is a mockup I did for the monster evolution/upgrade screen… except now I’m trying to fit all that into one screen four times over, without it being confusing or looking crappy… š
I tried for a while, got angry then ate an ice-cream… now back to it!

Back in 2002 I discovered a nifty tool for making classic point and click adventure games called Adventure Game Studio. Ā AGS got me hooked on making video games, and it’s all I’ve wanted to do ever since!
I’ve made quite a few little adventures, a lot of which I used to release under the name “Wintermute Studios”. They’re all free, and you can grab them from wintermutestudiosgames.com
The Unicated was my most recent little adventure game. Although it was a couple of years ago now. I made it in a month for a little competition where the theme was “Evil Twin”, the music’s by the talented @sunraheadgear with voices by the irrepressible Mr. Adrian Vaughan.

A short twisted tale about conjoined twins; one good, one evil. Can they learn to work together before they’re literally torn apart?
I’ve got a whole load of new monster anims- here’s a few runs

The little guy on the left is the smallest I could come up with to still have discernible arms and legs… it’s fun to control such a tiny guy in-game, still trying to figure out what his abilities should be…
definite Doom influences on the demon guy.
So I took up cross stitching a while back to keep my fingers limber when I’m away from my keyboard. Keeps the agonising cramps at bay. It was either that or see a doctor- but that would have involved leaving the house.

I’ve posted some of these here and there, but here is the big collection of the monsters I’ve animated so far… so many down, sooooo many still to do!

These are the original colors I drew them in; they’ll all get a palette tweak as they get implemented ingame.
I’m simultaneously designing the upgrade system and doodling possible GUI elements to support the system… I find it helps to think things out by drawing how they would work in the menus… forces me to consider lots of mechanical details and edge-cases i otherwise would have missed… these are by no means final, just work-in-progress doodles as I try to figure out what the important information is, what the necessary actions are, and how to fit it all on screen for four people at once…

I roughed out the pelvis chest and skull each on their own layer so I can move them around independently- these won’t squash much, the squishing is mostly in the connecting tissue. I did the arms/legs/tail in the simplest possible form (a line) so its really quick and easy to redraw poses. Also with their own layer.
