You’re Watching ICEBOX!
It’s been a while since we released a free game, so here’s two!
The first is a comedy adventure, along the same line as last years The Inanimate Mr Coatrack (and with a returning character!). Try to keep your cool, as you host a disastrous episode of failing 80’s variety show, ICEBOX!
The second is a platform-puzzler, think Lemmings meets The Incredible Machine, with graphics inspired by the ZX Spectrum.
We found making levels was as fun as playing them, so we’ve made a level editor for this one too, you can export levels as text, and share them in the itch.io comments!
Thanks to the various SeaDads that worked on these with me- Louis Meyer, Adrian Vaughan, Jon Murphy, Kyle Olsen and Ivy Dupler!
31ST CENTURY DATING
Well when it rains it pours, and we’ve got another game for y’all!
This one we started earlier in the year for a jam we did with Samurai Punk, and then got the opportunity to work on it more for a tournament at Fantastic Arcade!
Check out the Fantastic Arcade Bundle here too!
Anyway, it’s similar controls to Regular Human Basketball, but you’re building a gargantuan romantic date for godzilla. Get into it!
When will the madness stop?
I’m back for my traditional December post with the games we made with the SeaDads and neglected to share here!
The most recent first- Overcooked meets M*A*S*H in our entry for Ludum Dare 43. Dave did code/sound/design on this and Barney jumped on board for animations and effects.
The only Powerhoof link here is that I did sounds, but it’s got pirate babies, so I HAVE to put it here. Also, it scored first place for Ludum Dare 42!
Lastly, one I did for Global Game Jam back in January, fight off a briney menace using morse code (and maybe learn some along the way). I even made a custom controller for this one that I’m pretty proud of!
A Hotdog, an Orphan and a Priest walk into a bar…
Get yer mitts on some more games we’ve game-jammed (and neglected to post here already).
A fanny-pack appreciation based shooter made by Dave and his fellow SeaDads for Ludum Dare 40. Including art from Jacob Janerka who made the amazing Paradigm
Barney struck out on his own for Ludum Dare 39, and made a creepy game about an orphan who just wants to be loved, with multiple endings and lots of cinder-block munching!
And for the same jam, Dave and the SeaDads made a clunky mech-warrior job about a mechanized priest protecting his flock, with overly complicated power management controls!
A puzzling series of events
Despite taking a bit of a breather from Crawl after the launch, I’ve been keeping pretty busy. In the last month I’ve released a trio of little adventure games! I had help of course, including voices by Adrian Vaughan (who narrated Crawl), and music from Louis Meyer (who’s helped me with bits of Crawl code).
The first, Snowed In was made in 72 hours for Ludum Dare, with a friend Gav Kusters doing art. It’s a whimsical storybook tale with a sweary badger.
A week or two later, I released MURDERCIDE 2017 which I’d been initially using as a test project for a unity adventure game system I was working on. It’s a cyberpunk parody starring our buddy Jon Murphy who ported Crawl to Xbox One and PS4. I also got to try out my art skills on this one!
Shortly after that we realized that Adventure Jam 2017 was happening, so we jumped in with a week to go and made a horror thing called Peridium. Barney did the art for this one, so it’s totes legit Powerhoof!
Check them all out on the More Games Page. Or visit powerhoof.itch.io where there’s a bit more detail, plus some other free stuff we’ve made that you might have missed!
