Launch Day Has Arrived!
I’ve spent the last few weeks working on this new trailer, to go along with our launching on Steam Greenlight! Best to watch in HD or all our crisp pixels get all muddy and blurry…

Awesome voice work by “old shrimp-eyes”, perfect music by Alex Yoder, and substantially less confusion about how to capture footage without ruining it by compressing it 15 times to get it into different formats by me!
Look it’s like a real game
The Greenlight page is launched just like all the real games I see articles about yay! If you think Crawl looks cool or you just feel sorry for us for having to spend so long cooped-up recording with “old shrimp-eyes”, then please vote for us! Help us get on the store so we don’t have to go back to making crappy iPhone games!
First game I’ve ever Greenlit. This game NEEDS to be made. Such inspiring work, especially for aspiring indies like myself. Ever thought about running a Kickstarter campaign? If ever you do, I’d back this up in a heartbeat. Keep up the great work!
Cheers Snickers- we have considered doing a Kickstarter, but we’re already doing so many new things at once with starting the company and the Greenlight, we’re trying not to get in over our head! It may be an option at some point, but right now we’ve got our hands full!
Thanks for the support 😀
Dayum this looks awesome! So cool I watched it a bunch of times! Nice work and kudos to ol’ shrimp eyes, I gots shivers!
yep his voice was awesome- through most of the time working on the vid I had my own nerdy awkward voice in there as placeholder to get the timing right. listening to it in that state, it was pretty hard to imagine it would ever work, but as soon as I put in the final voice recordings it all came together 🙂
holy shit dude, the animation in this game is fucking flawless. It’s so rare to see a game done in that retro 8 bit art style by someone that knows their shit with animation. It looks so damn good.
cheers Ben! I’ve been loving working so low res, it definitely enables me to focus so much more on the way things move- if it only takes a few seconds to draw an arm or a leg I can experiment with new poses and ideas quickly, but if i have to spend a long time trying to just draw the structure of an arm for each frame, my time gets spent mostly on the rendering and not the movement and experimentation
omg, instant vote. the gameplay, the art design, that tight little narrative setup and that VOICEWORK. this needs to be a thing.
😀 thanks so much!
I’m so glad for the huge reaction on Steam – this looks like such a great project. If you can capture even half of the intensity and inventiveness of the trailer in the finished gameplay you’ve made a real winner here.
yep the trailer went well which is awesome, but now we’ve got a lot of work to do polishing the gameplay feel and prototyping mechanics- we’ve got our work cut out for us!
I am absolutely amazed with your game. I have been playing many games and I gotta say this is the most awesome game I have ever come across. This is definetely going on my fav list!
thanks so much 😀 makes me want to come up with some secret crazy stuff to increase the awesome 🙂
I really, really hope it gets online multi-player. It looks amazing, but my friends aren’t that into gaming.
hey thanks 🙂 i am definitely sympathetic to hear people like the concept but can’t get 4 people together in a room- rest assured we will be looking into it very seriously!
When will be the release date? 😛
looking at my task list, I have maybe a month or two of tasks before we are ready to launch on early access- hopefully it’s closer to 1 month than 2. It will take longer than that though, as we have to make another trailer and do some marketing to build awareness before we launch, and I am less able to guess how long that will take- hopefully only a few extra weeks!
Whoever did the voice acting for the trailer…they should redo the Goosebumps audobooks.
To much good.
The awesome.
It burns.
