Powerhoof! Random update...

What now?

I’ve been intending to get updating the site much more regularly even when I don’t have a lot of new stuff to show, so this is just a little update explaining what I’m working on.

This week I’m doing pretty boring stuff- breaking up my environment concepts and setting them up as assets to work in-game. Working on room shapes and the prop/scenery generation values for the new environments, and trying to get a sense of how long it takes me to implement a whole new enviro.

We are planning on going to GDC at the end of the month and I would love to get an update out before that, so keeping track of how long this takes will let me know how possible that is.

Over the weekend, I doodled some characters from a random game idea I’ve been daydreaming about. Going a bit higher res makes combat/action more laborious to animate, but having more details in the faces and hands is much better for acting/personality stuff… would be fun to make a game in this style some time!

  1. New updates are always exciting no matter what they add. An environment isn’t any less exciting than adding new monsters. You two put so much work into this game and it really shows. I can’t wait! That forest looks amazing i love the light purples. The castle keep also looks amazing! Could there be a possibility of different monsters becoming stronger as like a “home field advantage” such as the spiders, scorpion, and eye-bats having slightly increased damage in the forest.

    • cheers! there’s a lot of really fun places we could plug in the environments to alter things, who knows which ones will work out!

  5. this can be new charracters like first choose your god and then a charracter the little does less damage and is faster and the middle one has a little more health is little more slow and has not much more health and the big one has more health and does more damage but is slower

2D art is so often so much better at conveying personality than the most sophisticated motioncap stuff. not spending all that time trying to convince us it’s real means all the intent is poured into the mood of the character. I love em.
