Powerhoof! closing in on Early Access...

Where we’re at…

Well, we’ve got our build pretty close to the target feature set for launching on Steam Early Access, so our final testing/polishing phase before release has begun!

We had a playtesting session on the weekend and it all went pretty well- we have a handful of changes and fixes to make, but mostly we’ll be focused on the more boring business/marketing/technical stuff from here until launch…

I wish you good luck with sales, but I have no idea why someone wouldn’t get this. I love how its so fast paced, it looks like everything is always happening, even when you’re just buying something from a shopkeeper.

    • hehe thanks for all the support! 🙂 we had a few pacing problems where things would slow down for ghosts sometimes which risked getting annoying, but our recent changes seem to have fixed that up so i’m pretty excited to get people playing as soon as possible! 😀

My main reason for not getting it is that I have delicate hands. The game is TOO fast and has TOO much going on. Even when you’re just trying to buy something from a shopkeeper person!

I’m still holding out for the announcement of Crawl: Delicate Hand Edition.

      • hehe we are sympathetic to your needs- we don’t want your brittle fingers snapping off mid-game and hitting somebody in the eye- we may ship with a safety visor to prevent such a tragedy

  5. Woohoo, super happy for ya’ll! I’ve told plenty of people about your game & am happy that their reactions have all been very positive.

I’ve said it before, just can’t help but say it again… Can’t wait to play your game! Still is the one I’m looking forwards to the most.

  6. Congratulations on your success on Greenlight! I’m not usually someone who posts their thoughts in forums or anything, but I just had to say that I am extremely excited for your game. I love asymmetrical games that you can play with friends, and after watching a whole slew of lets plays on Youtube, I am ecstatic to try it out. I also clearly have no idea how punctuation works, but that nor here nor there. Thanks for designing something so cool! -Keo

    • haha thanks so much for the encouragement and enthusiasm 😀 I’m working like crazy on our launch trailers and it’s really wearing me out, so it’s nice to see poeple being all excited to get me pumped and keep me motivated to get this all ready for launch!

I’m so excited to see this come out I’ve been following this since someone on reddit posted to PC Master Race about the Gabe thing, I can’t wait to play local co-op and from the trailer I look forward to the chip tunes too. So much luck to you guys.

Everyones talking about E3 and the only thing I found interesting was Hotline Maimi’s mod kit and there was no Crawl news. )’:

    • Oh man that’s great to hear- yeah our musician is amazing and has dome brilliant work! He’s helping us with music for the trailer right now, but hopefully we can get some more gameplay tracks out of him soon too!

Awesome to hear you’re still thinking about crawl with all this E3 craziness going on! I’m kicking myself we didn’t enter IndieCade earlier, or maybe we could have been in their E3 display!

Oh well, it helps build mystique not being seen there 🙂

  8. What are the chances of this coming to consoles? I really want to play this but I’m not really into PC gaming. If the fees for porting this are too high I would be the first to donate or support a kickstarter to get this on other systems and expand the development on it. I’d take this on any system. PS4 would be best though…

    • chances are very very good 🙂 I want to see crawl on console so bad, we just gotta get the PC version nailed down before we take on more work porting!

  9. Hey, first of all, i want to say: congrats for greenlight, i’ve watched most of gameplay vids available on youtube and i can’t wait for its release 😀
Still i have a question, obviously there is local coop, but what about online coop, will there be some ??

Thank you for making such a nice game, hope it will meet the success it deserve.

    • hey thanks 🙂

we would love to add online support, but it is a really huge task! we will launch on early access as local-multiplayer only while we continue adding content and perfecting the design. we will start investigating online after that to see if we can pull it off, and find out just how much work will be involved etc.

if we think we can pull it off, then we will- i would love to play crawl online 🙂 but can’t guarantee anything yet!

  10. No problem if you can’t answer this. But do you think this will get out onto early access in time for the 30th of june? This seems like the perfect party game for my birthday!

        • Earlier they seemed to suggest before the end of this month. I’m ultra excited for this game too. I’m not sure if this is the place to ask this or if it has already been asked: Should we expect the same content as we’ve seen with the lets plays on Youtube? Has there been a lot of changes since the versions they got? I know I should just be patient and find this out when it’s out but I’m really pumped for it. Thanks!

          • most of the content won’t seem very different from the youtube videos, as most of our work has been on subtler balancing and bugfixing- so the monsters will feel better and games will be more balanced and have less errors, but that won’t be too noticeable form just watching the videos 🙂

a couple of more visible changes are surrounding blobs for the ghosts to pick up and a reworked system for challenging the boss- these have been featured in a couple of let’s plays, but only a few as 90% of the builds we sent out were the older version

hopefully once we’re launched i can start adding lots of crazy new monsters and weapons for each update, and much more unique environment art etc

        • rough estimate is mid/end of next month- let’s hope we don’t get help up but so far it looks pretty good
